Bethany Whitmore

The Family Law is a comedy/drama about a dysfunctional Chinese Australian family living in Brisbane.  The series is seen through the eyes of 14-year-old Benjamin Law (Trystan Go), who dreams of being on a TV soap like Home & Away.  Over one long hot summer, Benjamin encounters a series of dramas and faces the life-changing challenge of his parent's divorce.  The show is based on the Australian best-selling book of the same name by Benjamin Law.

Bethany plays the role of Melissa Hills, Benjamin's best friend.  In the first season, she wears callipers and is just starting to become sexually aware, although still very inappropriate.  She is in love in Benjamin and tries everything to get his attention.  In the second season, Melissa finds new confidence and believes it's her time to shine.  In the third and final season, Melissa takes a more prominent role and her sexuality is explored.

Season One of the Family Law broke records when it aired on SBS in January 2016. Season Two aired in 2017 and the third and final season aired January 2019.
